It starts with one tree… then two… then three…
The three co-founders of the NGO La Vallée des Femmes want to plant one of Europe’s largest food forests* to serve as the setting for an eco-village that will welcome and support sub-Saharan women who have survived the journey across the Mediterranean Sea.
*From fruit trees to herbs and vegetables, this forest is inspired by natural forests and holds the promise of food self-sufficiency.
Our Four Pillars
Ecology
Restoring degraded natural areas in a region threatened by desertification through food production. It is this scale that makes it possible to breathe new life into entire regions.
Solidarity and Dignity
By basing the NGO’s operations on the proactive involvement of its residents, a sense of solidarity takes root and dignity is restored.
Women and Heritage
This women’s village offers numerous workshops for everyday crafts, such as sewing, hairdressing, and blacksmithing for tools, among others. These workshops also serve as training programs supported by in-house education. This education extends to European languages and new trades.
Knowledge Deployment
And what about the International School of Eco-Culture in all of this?
It will be independent, yet closely intertwined with the NGO—both through the farmland managed by the Valley of Women and through the profits it generates, which will be entirely dedicated to supporting the NGO financially in the medium term.

The NGO La Vallée des Femmes was founded by three French women in their fifties who have a home in Greece, in Laconia in the southern Peloponnese.
It is an initiative that combines humanitarian work with environmentalism. It is a refuge that welcomes sub-Saharan migrant women—survivors of the Mediterranean Sea—in an eco-village nestled in the heart of a nourishing forest.
The idea of creating a place that is nearly self-sufficient in food and energy is combined with the concept of nature’s beauty as a setting for the physical and psychological recovery of these unwitting heroines, who have been deeply scarred by their journeys. They come to Europe; we open a door for them.

Working with eco-friendly building materials, living using low-tech solutions in the Balinese jungle or among Greek olive groves, a passion for seeds, an awareness of the skills possessed by Western women in their fifties who have lived through periods of historical change, my understanding of the state of emergency facing humanity and the Earth, as well as my faith that a simple outstretched hand can work miracles—all of this makes me certain that this vision is both achievable and necessary.
